MOC unveils ‘We TAIWAN’ diverse lineup for Expo 2025 Osaka

Organized by the Ministry of Culture (MOC), the cultural program titled “We TAIWAN” will take place from Aug. 2 to 20 at Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan. On July 14, the MOC held a prelaunch press conference to unveil the exciting and diverse lineup of Taiwanese performances. The program will feature 38 groups of artists from Taiwan and Japan, delivering a total of 129 performances.

Minister of Culture Li Yuan noted that “We TAIWAN” has chosen the mascot “a-We” to symbolize the genesis of the island of Taiwan and highlight its remarkable journey of growth and resilience amidst challenges. He emphasized that collective efforts over time have propelled Taiwan onto the international stage, showcasing its unique identity and achievements.

Chief Representative Katayama Kazuyuki (片山和之) of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Taipei Office remarked that “We TAIWAN” will not only showcase Taiwan’s multiculturalism and creativity to Japanese audiences but also help strengthen international ties.

In addition to four key themes— “The Power of Play (遊戲能力),” “Blended Colors (混融色彩),” “Creativity that Crosses Over (跨域創造),” and “Dynamic Energy (萬變氣場),” Minister Li also highlighted another program feature: “A Ritual of Gratitude Before the Temple (島嶼之聲—廟埕前的謝神戲).” This performance, invited by the Expo organizer as an official event, will feature nine Taiwanese performing groups and take place from Aug. 26 to 28 at Pop-Up Stage North, Yumeshima.
