Ayla – Strolling in Nakanoshima, created by the Taiwanese creative team Ars Association, will be presented this August at the East Plaza of the Osaka City Central Public Hall!
This cross-temporal contemporary performance follows Ayla, an elementary schoolgirl from the future, who sets out on a field research journey to explore the cultures and natural environments of different times and places. Lively, confident, and full of imagination, Ayla loves making new friends and carefully documents what she encounters along the way—bringing her precious discoveries back to the future to share with her classmates and encouraging audiences to reflect on the question: “What can we leave behind for the future?”
The performance breaks away from the traditional framework of puppetry, employing physical theatre to spark the audience’s imagination through the interplay of reality and illusion. It is not only an exploration of visual and theatrical expression, but also an artistic action that inspires curiosity and connects deeply with everyday life.
