"In an era of chaos, demons rise, crisis spreads, and summons are sent far and wide. The time has come for heroes to return."
The great hero Luo Yanfei has vanished, leaving behind only the White Light Sword. As the demonic dragon Red Rakshasa rises and darkness spreads, the sacred sword awakens, seeking a new master. A new hero must rise, and the battle against evil is about to begin—who will wield the blade?
In 2020, a global pandemic disrupted the world, throwing everything into chaos. In Taiwan, traditional glove puppetry had already been in decline, and this crisis only worsened the situation. Thus, the core spirit of this production was born—to unite, persevere, and restore the lost glory of Taiwan’s glove puppetry.
The protagonist, Luo Yanfei, is inspired by the Taiwanese opera classic Legend of Flying Swords. He wields the White Light Sword, slaying demons and breaking through adversity—symbolizing resilience and innovation. To bring this story to life, we have gathered master puppeteers from across Taiwan, blending northern, central, and southern puppetry styles with live percussion, showcasing the rich diversity and evolution of the art form.
Through this performance, the audience will witness the legacy and transformation of Taiwan’s glove puppetry, merging tradition with new possibilities.
