“Made in Taiwan, Loved in Pictures” showcases the diversity of Taiwanese culture through six major themes: Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples, Taiwan’s Folk Tales, Everyday Life in Taiwan, Taiwan’s Religions, Taiwan’s Cultural Aesthetics, and Taiwan’s Natural Beauty. The exhibition echoes the core ideas of the main pavilion— “Authentic Taiwan,” “Woven by Light and Nature,” and “Island Soundscape”—and combines visuals, sound, and stories to offer readers a deeper experience of Taiwan’s cultural charm.
Taiwan is an island of diverse cultures. Through the wisdom of Indigenous traditions, the everyday life and beliefs of Minnan and Hakka settlers, as well as the modernization and linguistic shifts during Japanese Rule, Taiwan has developed into a society marked by freedom and resilience. This spirit of inclusiveness and adaptability gives rise to stories full of vitality. At the same time, Taiwan’s history has fostered a culture of diversity and coexistence, whose capacity for adaptation and creativity continues to thrive amid the tides of change. Through the vivid narratives found in picture books, this exhibition invites the world to discover Taiwan and feel the life force and resilience of this island.
